Overview

About Tree Felling

Felling a tree in a garden is rarely a matter of dropping it in one piece. There is a shed, a boundary fence, a conservatory or a neighbour's greenhouse in the way, so the tree comes down in sections and each one is lowered rather than let go. Some trees are protected or sit in a conservation area, which changes what is allowed before any work starts, so it pays to check with us and with the council first.

The process

How the job runs

The price

Tree Felling costs

No two jobs price the same, and anyone quoting over the phone without seeing it is guessing. These are the things that actually move the number, and the visit to work them out is free.

  • The size and species of the tree
  • What is within falling distance, which decides whether it can be felled or has to be dismantled
  • Access for equipment and for getting timber out
  • Whether the stump is being ground out too

FAQs

Tree Felling: common questions

Do I need permission to fell a tree?

Sometimes. A Tree Preservation Order or a conservation area both mean you need consent from the council first, and the responsibility sits with the property owner. Check before booking any work, and we will tell you if we think a tree looks likely to be protected.

What happens to the stump?

Felling leaves a stump. We can cut it as low as is practical, or grind it out below ground level so you can turf or pave straight over the top.

Do you give a free quote?

Yes. We come out, look at the job and give you a price for it, at no charge and with no obligation to go ahead.

How soon can you start?

It depends on the time of year and the size of the job, and resin in particular needs dry weather. Get in touch and we will give you a realistic start date rather than an optimistic one.
