Overview

About Resin Driveways

Resin bound is what people usually want when they like the look of gravel and not the reality of it. The aggregate is mixed with resin and trowelled out as one continuous surface, so it stays where you put it: no ruts where the tyres run, no stones migrating onto the lawn and into the road. It is permeable, so rain drains through the surface rather than running off it, and it is smooth enough for a wheelchair, a pushchair or a wheelie bin.

How the job runs

The price

Resin Driveways costs

No two jobs price the same, and anyone quoting over the phone without seeing it is guessing. These are the things that actually move the number, and the visit to work them out is free.

  • The area of the drive
  • Aggregate choice, since colours and blends vary in price
  • What base is needed underneath, which depends on what is there now
  • The depth of excavation and spoil removal
  • Weather, because resin needs dry conditions and a delayed start can affect scheduling

FAQs

Resin Driveways: common questions

Is resin the same as gravel?

No. Resin bound stone is mixed with resin and laid as one solid, smooth sheet, so it stays put. Loose gravel moves, rutting where the tyres run and spreading onto the lawn and the road.

How long before I can drive on it?

It needs time to cure, and that depends on the weather on the day. We will tell you when we lay it rather than give you a figure that turns out to be wrong on a cold morning.

Is it permeable?

Yes, laid on a suitable base. Water drains through the surface rather than running off it, which is better for surface water and is one reason resin gets specified at the front of a house.

Do you give a free quote?

Yes. We come out, look at the job and give you a price for it, at no charge and with no obligation to go ahead.
