Overview

About Artificial Grass

Artificial grass earns its place in gardens where real grass keeps losing: deep shade, a dog that runs the same line every day, or a lawn too small to be worth getting the mower out for. The result depends almost entirely on the base. We excavate, lay and compact a free-draining sub-base, screed it level, then fix and join the grass so there is no ridge along the seam and no hollow that collects water.

The process

How the job runs

The price

Artificial Grass costs

No two jobs price the same, and anyone quoting over the phone without seeing it is guessing. These are the things that actually move the number, and the visit to work them out is free.

  • The area, and how much shaping there is around borders and beds
  • The grass specification, from short-pile to a longer, denser pile
  • How much comes out of the ground and has to be carted away
  • Access, since a back garden usually means barrowing everything
  • Whether the ground needs levelling or retaining first

FAQs

Artificial Grass: common questions

Is artificial grass alright with dogs?

Yes, and it is one of the most common reasons people ask for it. Waste is rinsed off, and because it drains through the base rather than sitting on it, you do not get the mud patches a real lawn gets on a well-used route.

Does it get hot in summer?

It warms up more than real grass in direct sun, the same way paving does. In a shaded garden you would not notice; on a south-facing lawn on a hot day you would.

How long does it take?

Most domestic lawns are a few days, and the majority of that is the groundwork rather than the grass. We will give you a realistic run when we quote.

Do you give a free quote?

Yes. We come out, look at the job and give you a price for it, at no charge and with no obligation to go ahead.
